Ann Lee may seem like she was a new solo artist in 1999, but actually this was just the first time she released an album under her own name and image!
Annerley (Annerly?) Gordon is one of Italy's best kept secrets. She was born in England and later moved to Italy; she has been recording tracks since the late 80's under many different names such as Lolita, Charme, Anne, Ally & Jo, Annalise, Ann Sinclair, DJ Space'C, A Kay BJ, Alex, Wienna, TH Express, other Saifam and Riva & Pignagnoli releases, and also sings backup vocals for Corona, Virginelle, Go Go Girls, Playahitty, Spagna, The Smurfs, Fun Fun, JK and others.
She was also a major force behind the Eurobeat genre and Super Eurobeat series popular in Japan and Italy as her powerhouse voice fits this style perfectly. It is very high, clear and full of British attitude. As Ann Lee, she tends to soften up her voice more and go for a "chilled out" retro disco sound.
She is also an accomlished songwriter, cowriting with many artists including Corona and Whigfield.
In fact, her voice is so similar Whigfield's tracks that one can't be sure if she actually sings lead vocals in some or all Whigfield songs!
She just released (July 2003) a new single entitled No No No. This release has "Ann Lee" sound but she sings out a little more. The bridge is spoken, as in "Voices."
