The the theme of this
German band is sexual lyrics and performance - presented in a fun
light-hearted but naughty almost limirick style.
The history of E-Rotic is
complicated and filled with controversy. Lyane Leigh, the
incredible singer, officially quit the group after the first
album because of a disagreement in her contract. However, because
of her contract, she had to sing the vocals to all the E-rotic
Records until the album Gimme Gimme Gimme. This of course was all
secret at that time.
Lyane began her own group
called "SEX Appeal" and had some success. She also has
continued a solo pop career singing German songs.
Meanwhile, the new singer
Jeanette, who had taken over after Lyane, continued as the
official singer until after the Sexual Healing album, when she
left to persue a solo career. But so happened another twist- it
was discovered that actually she had never sang for the albums at
all! In fact it was Lydia who was the secret voice since Gimme
Gimme Gimme. Now she is also the official vocalist.
The group has also gone
through several stage rappers - but David Brandes has confessed
that it is he himself who records the raps for his tracks, not
the rappers on stage!
They have done several
albums and compilations including an incredible Abba cover album.
Fans of the band can see why they chose Abba - their songs
clearly are influenced in composition by Abba.
They are quite popular in
Japan as well and used in many Konami and Dancemania projects
including Dance Dance Revolution.
Total Recall brought back
their classics in Trance style, and Cocktail E-Rotic is also in
that style but offers all new songs.
Rumour has it that Lydia has left the E-Rotic
project.
